ROHINGYA'S ABUSES vs ASEAN INTEFERENCE POLICY

There were reports that a few thousand Rohingya's refugees had forced to back to open sea when they tried to landing in Thai territorial. The Thai's police had denied the refugees were forced to do so and Burmese government had been harshly said that 'they are not our people, they are Bangladeshis'.

These trait clearly shown how both countries treating the Rohingya's refugees. These bad trait could be questioned whether because they are a Muslims kin. There could be understood there's been influx of refugees in Thailand but forcing them to back to open sea was cruel action. To add the risk, there was been crowded in refugees boats and could reach 100 peoples in a boat.

The Rohingya's Muslim had been long time abused by the Buddhist Myanmar government. Burmese junta government never recognised them even as a minority in the country. Junta claimed, according to the history, they were an influx of refugees whose came to Myanmar from Bangladesh to seek a better economic and social life. It is not wise to question the history while many South East Asian countries experienced the same migration, but many of them had been proven successful being building up as developing countries, Malaysia for example. It is not the history been made up the country but the effectiveness of the domestic and international policies.

Since Myanmar junta government practising the 'close door system' and military autocratic (not the democracy), the country and the government were not going to be discussed by many scholars because of the limitation of the information about what being happened domestically in Myanmar. Same goes to Rohingya's, there might be known being abused by junta, but limitation of the information about them makes ASEAN association also no idea to what level they should interfere.

Myanmar in one time was likely to so called open the gate to ASEAN to recheck the junta trait to humanitarian, but sooner they seems took back the ad hoc policy. May be at that time, they worried about being by forced by US to open their door or gates whatsoever, but when US shadow lost from ASEAN, they back to their close gloomy policy even to ASEAN. Junta to be noted, not also doing badly treat to Muslims but also to the Buddhist monks who support for humanitarian and human rights. Junta seems againts everybody in the country who have been againts their military government.

ASEAN not doing much to help or to discuss further in these humanitarian issue in Myanmar because that is againts their non-inteference policy within other countries in organisation. Myanmar newly joined ASEAN and once open the door to ASEAN in order to satisfy the US that ASEAN is enough to take care of their problems. Junta worried about being expelled from ASEAN and then more worrying would forced to imply democracy (by US) rather than being forced by ASEAN of their humanitarian issue. Junta not worried about ASEAN because ASEAN is not a military alliance (like NATO), but only a countries whose implies the talking approach. ASEAN for further do not have any forces methods, or what we could say do not have a teeth to cope the humanitarian issue inside Myanmar. ASEAN at the same time having dilemma to imply any forces in any ASEAN countries which is againts their special non-interference policy trait to others' domestic issue.

But who would taking care of the issue of Rohingya's refugees? Malaysia and Indonesia could be took part, because of the 'brotherhood' interest, but there's reportedly more than 600,000 Rohingyas refugees in Malaysia and having a not so good life (no jobs, no education, poor). ASEAN should be more seriously taking care of this humanitarian issue as it reflex the bad treat to human rights and human security. A treat to humanitarian should been take up as one of the ASEAN's special consistency policy which should not imply to any countries who have been abused their people. ASEAN would be more respectful then.
